Texas school’s physical education teacher arrested on child sex abuse charges
CEDAR PARK, Texas — A Cedar Park high school teacher faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor and oral copulation with a child.
An Austin police report says an 11-year-old girl was found in an apartment on Jan. 13 and taken to a home on South Lamar.
The girl told police that the teacher, who was the school’s principal at the time, told her that if she wanted to have sex with him, she should wear her school uniform.
She told police the teacher also told her she was a virgin and said she would have sex if she didn’t want to.
At one point the girl asked to be put in a car to be taken home.
Cedar Park ISD spokeswoman Erin Furlong said in a statement Monday that the district learned of the allegations and launched an internal investigation.
“We were saddened to learn of the alleged misconduct in a matter of so young, and we take this matter seriously.
The district is working with law enforcement, school officials and the Austin Police Department to cooperate fully,” Furlung said.
