Physical education instructor fired for promoting a physical education class
A physical education instructor in Arizona is under fire after she promoted a physical activity class in a class that was supposed to be focused on physical health, the Associated Press reported.
The class was supposed be held in a medical school classroom on the campus of the University of Arizona, the AP reported.
The instructor, who was not identified, said she had been told by her assistant, who is also a physical-education instructor, to promote the class to her students, according to a video posted by the Associated Students of Arizona.
The Associated Students for Physical Education, which is based in Phoenix, has been working on its own version of the class.
The AP reported that the school is still working on a final version of a curriculum that will teach physical education and other wellness topics.
The school, which does not have a physical health curriculum, has about 1,000 students.
The Associated Students have a Facebook page and has received more than 50,000 likes on the page, the school said in a statement.
The Facebook page has since been taken down.
The Arizona Daily Star said that the class was canceled in a Facebook post on Wednesday, saying it would be moved to a different location.
The teacher, who did not have the school’s email address, also deleted the class’ Facebook page, but the AP said the teacher was able to find a replacement, the Arizona Daily Sun reported.
